Vyplýva to z údajov dvoch cyklosčítačov mestskej organizácie Bratislava Tourist Board (BTB). Tie sú umiestnené na hraničnom priechode Berg a pri Moste SNP, na medzinárodných cyklotrasách Eurovelo 6, nazývanej aj Riečna cesta, a Eurovelo 13, ktorá je známa aj ako Cesta železnej opony.
"Mesiac september nás poriadne prekvapil, oproti roku 2015 sme v rovnakom čase tohto roku namerali nárast o 77,82 percenta. Rekordným bol však mesiac august, v ktorom evidujeme takmer 52.000 prejazdov cyklistov na Viedenskej ceste, ktoré sú doposiaľ najvyššie namerané na našich cyklosčítačoch," uvádza predsedníčka predstavenstva BTB Alžbeta Melicharová. O dobrých číslach hovorí aj v súvislosti s hraničným priechodom Berg, ktorým od začiatku tohto roka do septembra prešlo obojsmerne takmer 150.000 cyklistov.
Od novembra 2014, kedy boli osadené oba cyklosčítače, počet cyklistov cez priechod Berg neustále narastá a do konca septembra 2016 prešlo hrádzou viac ako takmer 292.000 cyklistov v oboch smeroch. Kým cez rok sa ich počet pohybuje rádovo okolo niekoľko tisíc, od mája a počas letných mesiacov presahuje hranicu 21.000 a v auguste tohto roka to bolo takmer 28.000. Rovnako rastúci trend cyklistov zaznamenáva aj cyklosčítač na Viedenskej ceste. Ním do konca septembra tohto roka prešlo viac ako 548.000 cyklistov. Ich počet je najvýraznejší najmä v období od apríla do augusta, resp. septembra. Najviac cyklistov ním prešlo v auguste tohto roka – cyklosčítač zaznamenal takmer 52.000 prejazdov.
Na podporu cykloturizmu v hlavnom meste bola vytvorená aplikácia Cyklotrasy Bratislava, ktorá poskytuje bezplatne informácie o cyklotrasách v okolí mesta. Novinkou tohtoročnej sezóny je niekoľko nových propagačno-informačných materiálov, napr. brožúra s informáciami o všetkých športových príležitostiach v Bratislave.
