Podľa slov A. Hryca, najskôr chcel napísať knihu o svojich rodičoch a o tom aký ťažký život v komunistickom režime prežili. Onedlho zistil, že píše o sebe a svojom živote. Uvedomil si, že ľudia zabúdajú a mnohí podľa neho aj účelovo - nechcú si pamätať niektoré veci. Počas výročia nežnej revolúcie si prečítal spomienky niektorých účastníkov prevratu v roku 1989, no jeho meno sa v nich neobjavilo. Napriek tomu, že tam bol a aktívne sa na zmenách podieľal. „Tak som si povedal, že je potrebné urobiť rekapituláciu a pripomenúť ľuďom niektoré veci. Navyše, naša dnešná politika, to je katastrofa - hnoj a žumpa. Nedá sa žiaľ hovoriť o politikoch... Politiku u nás vo ceľkej väčšine, žiaľ, robia ľudia, ktorí by sa inde neuživili. Preto sú v politike, a tak sa aj správajú“, vysvetlil na úvod.
Čo ste si ešte uvedomili?
A.Hryc: „S hrôzou som zistil, že ani ten Twist (dnes rozhlasová stanica pod názvom Viva) akoby nikdy ani nebol...a všetko to čo urobil pre túto spoločnosť – že máme euro, sme v EÚ, NATO..., že to bola aj naša zásluha. Boli sme jediní, kto sa odvážil hovoriť pravdu. Nastavoval som svoj chrbát, kryl som svojich redaktorov aj satirikov, ktorí si v Twiste otvorene „usierali“ z vlády. Bojovali sme s mečiarizmom. Nedávno poskytol pán Mečiar rozhovor jednému denníku. Okrem iného sa ho pýtali, ako to bolo s vypnutím Twistu. Odpovedal, že žiadne vypnutie nebolo a že som bol „preferovanou osobnosťou“, čo je smamozrejme lož. Aby som eliminoval podobné lži, napísal som túto knihu. Je veľmi úprimná , žiadne skratky. Používa plné názvy a mená, ktorých je tam mimochodom 730. Opisujem ľudí ktorí lemovali môj život. Od rodinných príslušníkov, cez spolužiakov, učiteľov, kolegov, biznis partnerov, politikov a pod.
Sú v knihe aj kontroverzné tvrdenia, ktoré môžu vyvolať reakcie?
A.Hryc: Určite áno. Mnohým ľuďom sa kniha asi nebude páčiť, keď si o sebe prečítajú čo o nich píšem. Ale na jej začiatku a konci konštatujem, že mojím zámerom nie je niekomu ublížiť, len opisujem veci tak ako sa stali a všetko viem dokázať. Samozrejme, že mnoho ľudí sa tam nájde a pripúšťam, že niektorí nebudú spokojní.
Povedzte niečo o štruktúre knihy Inventúra...
A.Hryc: Delí sa zhruba na tri časti, najskôr ide o históriu mojej rodiny. Túto časť píšem v v tretej osobe, pretože informácie mám sprostredkované od rodičov. Od dňa narodenia mojej sestry si už pamätám všetko, a teda od roku 1954 píšem v prvej osobe o sebe a mojej profesionálnej hereckej práci do roku 1989. Nasleduje kapitola Twist, ktorá má asi sto strán. Vzhľadom nato, že obsahuje množstvo faktov a odborných informácií, je prepletená rôznymi príbehmi, historkami a zážitkami z môjho života až do dneška.
Nakoľko je obsah knihy otvorený? Píšete aj o veciach ktoré doteraz neboli známe? Čo konkrétne?
A.Hryc: Myslím si že ide o veľmi úprimnú spoveď, v ktorej otvorene píšem aj svojich prúseroch i nešťastiach ktoré som zažil. Po roku 1989 som rezignoval na divadelnú hereckú kariéru, lebo som pochopil, že len z herectva ťažko udržím životný štandard mojej rodiny. Rok som robil iba politiku. Bol som ale naivný, z čoho vyplynuli strategické chyby. Jednou z nich bolo založenie HZDS pri ktorom som bol. Potom ako som to pochopil svoj omyl, založil som rádio Twist.
Aká bola situácia a atmosféra počas zakladania Twistu?
A.Hryc: To všetko opisujem v knihe. Jednoznačne som postavil existenciu Twistu na princípe budovania demokracie. Aj preto som založil Asociáciu rozhlasových staníc a vystupoval som voči vtedajšej politike Slovenského rozhlasu a dokazoval som, že jedine privátni vysielatelia sú garanciou demokracie v oblasti elektronických médií, začo sa mi vtedajší riaditeľ verejne vysmieval. No keď uniesli prezidentovho syna, aj on asi pochopil, že je to pravda, pretože štátny rozhlas i televízia odmietli odvysielať vyhlásenie prezidenta republiky. Jediný kto sa to odvážil urobiť, bolo rádio Twist... Vtedajší hovorca prezidenta, bývalý riaditeľ rozhlasu Štefko mi volal o pol štvrtej ráno a o dvadsať minút Twist vyslal do sveta správu o tomto zločine. Bola to pre mňa riadna satisfakcia. Twist som ale zobral ako svoje osobné poslanie a trochu som zanedbal biznis. A tak to potom aj dopadlo. Bola to moja chyba a v knihe ju rekapitulujem a snažím sa s ňou vyrovnať.
Kto knihu vydá a v akom bude náklade?
A.Hryc: Knihu vydáva Slovart v náklade 10-tisíc kusov, je tam asi 130 fotografií a dobových dokumentov. Sú tam aj fotografie bez komentára s ľuďmi, s ktorými som sa stretol a ovplyvnili môj život. Desaťtisícový náklad v tvrdej väzbe je u nás v tejto dobe nevídaný a veľmi si vážim odvahu slovensko – českého vydavateľstva. Navyše, keď sa doteraz autobiografickým dielam nevenovalo. Knihu krstíme 14. februára, po tomto dátume sa objavií na knižných pultoch.
Odkiaľ ste čerpali informácie a námety? A čo film?
A.Hryc: Mám chvalabohu dobrú pamäť a veľmi dobrý archív. Všetky informácie a fakty ktoré uvádzam, pochádzajú z neho.Pokiaľ ide o film, samozrejme píšem aj o svojej hereckej práci. Je tam aj kapitola o mojom sedemročnom účinkovaní v Košiciach a mojom tridsaťročnom vzťahu s Novou scénou, kde som začínal ako študent a skončil ako riaditeľ divadla. Píšem o úspechoch, prehrách a prúseroch a o veciach o ktorých verejnosť nevie. I o tom, čo o sebe väčšina ľudí radšej nikdy nepovie...
Čo napríklad?
Mal som napríklad zlú autohaváriu – zrazil som človeka. O tom nikto nevie...Je o tom jedna kapitola.
A na záver...prečo práve takáto kniha?
Knihu som nepísal kvôli zárobku. Potreboval som si vyčistiť dušu a myslím si, že sa mi to podarilo. Aj keď niektorí dotknutí ma možno prestanú zdraviť... Ja som vždy hovoril to, čo som si myslel a pár krát som si tým poriadne „nabil hubu“. Píšem aj o tom. Píšem aj o veciach ktoré formovali môj život a ktoré spôsobili to, že som taký aký som, so všetkými mojimi nedostatkami a kladmi, ktoré sa vo mne skrývajú.
